Touch Rugby Training Programmes for Kids aged 7-11 years

Touch Rugby offers a great introduction to the world of rugby, enabling children to play in teams in a safe and structured environment. Touch Rugby confer multiple benefits in addition to the technical skills acquired, such as improved stamina and body coordination. Our Touch Rugby classes are available for children aged 7 – 11 years at selected venues.

The Get GungHo Touch Rugby programme offers a chance for boys and girls to build new skills, have fun and make new friends!  

The Touch Rugby sessions serve as a kids development programme and is designed for children to develop a variety of fundamental sports skills, social skills, build confidence, make new friends and most importantly, have FUN! 

The coaches create a fun, safe and positive environment for kids to learn and express themselves.

Overall Goals
Get Gungho's child-centered coaching approach requires a commitment on behalf of the coach to embrace a natural starting point in development for each player.

The coach's role is not to create parity (all players are the same), but to nurture them to a level consistent with their individual commitment, attitude, enthusiasm, and talent.

To ensure participation in sport is enjoyable for players, adults, parents, and coaches need to embrace and work with the development characteristics, and not against them.

Description of Kids Touch Rugby Program (8 weeks)
Goal-based training plan based on age-appropriate activities that involve the following activities among others;

• Ball familiarisation, basic rules and conditioned games

• Passing backwards, development of rules in attack and defence

• To progress skills into a conditioned game of Touch

• To initiate a technical roll ball and understand the idea of a three-person drive

• To understand the main rules in Touch and apply them to a conditioned game through playing and refereeing

• To apply all learnt rules, skills and tactics in a game of Touch
  

All our sessions will include a technical activity and a mini-game where students can apply the knowledge they have learnt and build upon their skills.

At the end of each term, players will receive a certificate of completion.
